Tomasz Grzyb
Professor / Team leader

Chemist and expert in nanomaterial synthesis and lanthanide spectroscopy. His research focuses on upconversion in lanthanide-doped nanoparticles, optical nanothermometry, and luminescently labelled nanoplastics. He currently leads projects exploring upconversion-driven charging of Eu²⁺- and Cr³⁺-doped persistent phosphors, as well as the use of luminescent nanoparticles for tracking and imaging micro- and nanoscale systems.

Dominika Przybylska
Assistant Professor

An experienced chemist specializing in the synthesis of lanthanide-doped nanoparticles. Her current research focuses on the preparation of core/shell upconversion nanoparticles using thermal decomposition and precipitation methods in high-boiling organic solvents. She is particularly interested in tailoring the size, morphology, and luminescent properties of these nanomaterials.

Joanna Musiał
Post-doc

A pharmacist and researcher specializing in the preparation and characterization of luminescently labelled micro- and nanoplastics. Her work focuses on the production of nano- and microparticles using wet-chemistry approaches and on the development of luminescent probes for tracking the uptake and distribution of micro- and nanoplastics in biological systems.

Adrian Drozdowski
PhD student

A PhD student whose research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of Cr³⁺-doped nanomaterials exhibiting persistent luminescence. He also has experience in the preparation of core/shell upconversion nanoparticles with intense ultraviolet emission for the generation of reactive oxygen species in photodynamic therapy. His current work is aimed at developing hybrid nanomaterials that combine persistent luminescence and upconversion properties.

Klaudia Krysiak-Smułek
PhD student

A PhD student with a strong background in chemical technology. Her research focuses on the preparation and characterization of luminescently labelled micro- and nanoplastics produced by wet-chemical synthesis and polymer cryomilling. She develops model plastic particles for studying the fate, uptake, and tracking of micro- and nanoplastics in environmental and biological systems.
